1995年11月に大阪府泉南地域で外来種のゴケグモ「セアカゴケグモ（英名：Red Back）」が発見された。「毒グモ上陸！」とのマスコミのセンセーショナルな報道によって過剰な排除運動が起こった。背景にあるのは、人間の経済活動の急速なグローバル化によって引き起される生態系の混乱である。
大阪市平野区のまちなかで開催される『モダンde平野』への参加作品として、この毒グモのシルエットを配した赤いカードを、かつての環濠集落・旧平野郷内の全家屋約4000件に配付し、住民に自由に住居の表面に展示することを依頼した。
カードには「セアカゴケグモ」との共生のメッセージが裏文字で記され、隙間なく並べるとすべての糸がつながりあうようになっている。
住民自身の意識と行為によって町の表面に点々と現われる赤いカードが、町の景観の微細な変化を引き起こす。

In our age of globalization, various things come and go beyond the border, but in the past, a village or a city was protected against outside enemies by the wall or moat. Hirano was an old village enclosed by the moat from 15 century until the beginning of 20 century. This project was to reconsider the meaning of border by the motif of denizen, "Red back"

Red Back is name of poison spider which had come from abroad as a result of global flow of things and disturbance of ecosystem.
I distribute the post cards with silhouette of "Red Back", to all the houses of Old Hirano area which was surrounded by a moat, asking to residents to display the card on the front of their houses.
On the card, one can read an appeal of the possibility of co-existance with heterogenous beings. The ways of re-using the surface of town as receptor of residents' expression might transform slightly the view of the townscape.
